Restaurant Week Has Arrived

The participating restaurants for NYC Restaurant Week has just been released and we’re already booking our dates. Twice a year, 300+ restaurants offer a prix-fixe 3-course menu for lunch ($29) and dinner ($42). If we had it our way, we’d take two weeks off from work to eat out, but alas, our wallets and stomachs just wouldn’t be able to hang. So, for the weeks between January 23rd and February 10th, we’re getting strategic.

The best plan of attack is go to OpenTable and choose dates to see which restaurants are available. They dedicate a special filtering for Restaurant Week, so you don’t have to figure out which one’s are participating. From here, you can peruse the menus and decide on a restaurant. You might even discover a new restaurant you never knew you needed to try.

Can’t get in for dinner? Sometimes availability is better for lunch seatings. Also, restaurants dedicate a certain number of tables to OpenTable online reservations. Go old school and pick up the phone. Often times, they have times outside of what’s online.

We plan for this twice a year and you can bet we have a list of restaurants. Here’s what’s on our radar:

Nougatine – French cuisine with a Central Park view; reservations are limited.

Milos – Mediterranean seafood, people rave about the Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bream.

Chef’s Club – Contemporary American, try the Smoked Arctic Char by Chef Marcus Samuelsson.

ABC Kitchen – American cuisine, leave room for the Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundae

While some of these aren’t close to our midtown Manhattan hotel, they are definitely worth the distance. And, don’t fret if you miss out or can’t get your reservation, Restaurant Week will return in June.
