Running Trails in NYC

Are you like us? The instant the days start to get longer we’re looking for any reason to be outside. One of the best ways to explore the city is on your feet and for some it includes a pair of running shoes strapped to the feet for a run.  Start the day off with a great run (or walk) taking in great sites at your own pace while getting your heart rate up a bit.

Take A Tour (5 or 9 miles)
If you’re looking for a run that doubles as your very own self-paced tour. Follow this route through the city: Hudson River Greenway. Exiting Park Central Hotel, head West toward the water and join the Hudson River Greenway. Running south toward downtown, you’ll “run” into the beautiful Hudson River, the Intrepid Sea, Air, Space Museum, places to stop for refuel, the Chelsea Market, and the Statue of Liberty. It’s about 5 miles to Battery Park and about 9 miles round trip from 57th off the water.

Morning Run with a view (2, 3, or 9 miles round trip)
Though a bit further from the hotel, running across the Brooklyn Bridge in the early morning is definitely the perfect way to start the day. See the sun rise as it comes over the horizon and hits the skyline. The bridge is about 3 miles from the Manhattan entrance to Brooklyn side and back. Both sides have attractions to enjoy.  Take a cab over to the entrance or if you’re in for a long run, it’s about a 4-5 miles run to the entrance from the hotel.

Escape the City (Multiple)
If you’re feeling claustrophobic with the high rises, taxis zooming by, and crowds of people, escape the city vibe and visit Van Cortlandt Park in Manhattan. With over 14 acres of open space and trails, get lost in the beautiful scenery on a run or walk.

Happy Exploring!
