ICYMI, May is Bike Month

ICYMI, May is bike month. The month may almost be over but that shouldn’t stop you from grabbing a bike and hitting an urban trail (even in June)!

First things first, where do you get a bike? If you found a great New York hotel deal and are staying at the Park Central, Fancy Apple bike rental is right outside. They can set you up with a bike, helmet and provide some trail recommendations or even customize a bike tour for you. And in case you need some more inspiration, here’s a couple of routes to take you through Manhattan, across the bridge to Brooklyn and beyond.

Moonlight Ride: Change your Friday night plans up and meet in Central Park for a ride to enjoy a leisurely tour of the park under the gies of moonlight. The group meets at 10pm the first Friday of every month. Bike guide included.

Hudson River Greenway: A long strip of paved path along the water (also good for runs), this trail takes you by some great landmarks and places to explore: Chelsea Market, the Statue of Liberty, the Children’s Museum of the Arts, and Battery Park.

Governors Island: Leave Manhattan on a ferry (East River or the free Governors Island ferries) and enjoy a car-free experience. The scenery is beautiful with tree-lined paths, grandiose mansions and amazing views of Lower Manhattan.

Across Brooklyn/Manhattan Bridge: There’s nothing like riding a bike over the water on a bridge. Take in the view, the people and land in Brooklyn to explore neighborhoods like Williamsburg or head over to Prospect Park and visit the Botanical Gardens.

We’re only listing a few routes and there’s lots of city to explore. Or find your own path!
