“Hello Sailor!” Is what will be heard on the city streets starting May 24th. Wednesday marks the day when thousands of sailors dock in New York City and take over the town. Parades, music shows, parties, special tours and events galore are open to the public in honor and celebration of the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps and majority of them are free to the public. We’re here to help you navigate through the sea of sailors and events.
Inaugurate the week with the Parade of Ships where you can watch ships from the Marine Corps, U.S Navy, U.S Naval Academy, U.S. Coast guard and the Royal Canadian. The Parade ends with the ships docking in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island where you can tour the ships throughout the Fleet Week.
Another ship to tour is the Intrepid, Sea, Air, and Space Museum Complex who are hosting special events for Fleet week including their Summer Series Movie nights. This year’s kick off movie is ‘Top Gun’ being shown on the flight deck May 26th at 7pm.
Close out the weekend with one of the many nautical themed parties at the local bars and clubs. Details haven’t been released yet, but check event websites for latest parties and celebrations. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
