New York City Things To Do in October

Two words: Sweater Weather. Switch out the wardrobes and make room for the jackets and sweaters for the activities this month.

The colors of the month are orange, red, brown and black making Color Factory the perfect place to immerse yourself in the colors. “Haunted Hues” has taken over the factory with gourds galore and more. We did say sweater weather which means a stroll through Central Park to see all of the colors on a sea of trees is a must, as well.

Spooky or Spook-less? Not everyone is up for the adrenaline rush things that go bump in the night or rather jump out at you on All Hallows Eve. Get all the thrills and fun and none of the scaries at The Occulus Halloween House. Decorated to the 9’s in Halloween decor, each room takes on a different festive theme to explore and interact. Perfect for families, littles, and those who just want some halloween fun without the ‘Boos!”. For the seasoned fear junkies, sign up for Blood Manor. With 20 years of experience under their belt they are experts screams.

When the ‘gram starts showing friends picking apples in Upstate, you know it’s fall. Only an hour excursion outside of the city, choose from several orchards to pluck apples right from the branches. A hay bale ride and a corn maze may be included. Schlep the pounds of apples home and pull up the best sweet and savory apple recipes for a day of comfort cooking.

The air may be a little crisp but it’s still outdoor activity weather. Take that homemade apple cider you made from the pounds of apples you picked, warm it up for a rooftop movie night with your favorite snuggle buddy. October’s showings are on theme with movies like Friday the 13th, Hocus Pocus, and Practical Magic.

Let the month prepare you for the cozy months ahead.
