New York July 2019 Events

The month of independence always gets started with a bang! How to keep the party going all month long:

There are so many events to choose from for the 4th of July. We did our best to distill it down to just one paragraph. Kick off the day with a BBQ in the park - Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park allow grilling, just be prepared to bring your own supplies. As the sun sets, the race to nightfall is about making sure you have the best view for the fireworks, aka rooftop. Direct your attention toward the Brooklyn Bridge - the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are back after a brief hiatus. Continue the celebrations with one of the many patriotic spirited events.

Proceed into July with Bastille Day, French National Day on July 14th. History lesson: Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison igniting the French Revolution. Try authentic cuisine and peruse arts and crafts at the Bastille Day on 60th Street Fair. Or try French Restaurant Week, July 8 - 21, which offers prix-fixe menus with special pricing at select restaurants in honor of this holiday.

Cross the water to Randall’s Island park for “Pinknic”. An immersive experience of pink hues, rosé, gourmet food, and live music. Bonus: stave off your post 4th of July blues with more fireworks. This event cascades over two days (July 19 & 20). Pick your day or do a 2-day pass. If you can swing it, go for VIP to gain access to the lounge and pool.

How do you finish out a month like that? We suggest with a cultural experience. Harlem Week starts July 28th and concludes the week of August 24th with the Harlem Jazz and Music Festival. Take a look at the schedule and learn about this community’s rich history over the past four decades.
