NYE in NYC

New Year’s Eve in New York is iconic, classic, amazing, cold, chaotic, and crazy if you don’t know how to navigate the many events and places to be. The best strategy: figure out what your vibe for the night is and plan in advance to ring in 2023.

When in Rome…

NYC on NYE = Times Square Ball Drop. Full disclosure: it’s not for the weak of heart. Access to the viewing areas starts at 6pm but individuals start gathering in the area in the afternoon. It’s going to be a long adventure so make sure to layer up. Fingers-crossed, the weather looks snow and rain free. Backpacks, umbrellas and several other items are not allowed into the viewing areas. Make sure to fuel and hydrate before heading out. Things to think about: no public bathrooms,  alcohol/“public” drinking is not allowed and if you leave the viewing areas for food, bathroom, etc, you won’t get your spot back. BUUUT, as the ball drops and it’s 2023, you’ve experienced the confetti, performances, and the camaraderie of strangers that comes with surviving the elements.

Give me choices

Maybe it’s about the perfect location with options. Think Great Gatsby hotel ambiance to roll in 20-23. Park Central Hotel is located in the heart of midtown with views of Times Square and the ball drop. Stay inside for a Gatsby party extravaganza of champagne, hors d'oeuvres, glimmering chandeliers and 1920’s architecture. Be the “Life of the Park Party” at Park Lounge or have an “Intimate party for two” in your room with a ball drop view. Either way, all you need to celebrate is within an arm’s reach and the best thing is at the end of the night you’re already at ‘home’ and can crash immediately.

Making new Friends

New Year’s Eve is a celebration, a party you can ring in the new year with new friends. New York City does not disappoint with parties uptown, downtown, brooklyn, wherever you are.

  • Timeout NYE Bash (Brooklyn): DJ’s, champagne, option for open bar and VIP seating to dance the night away.
  • The McKittrick New Year’s Eve Midnight Ball (Chelsea): Known for the immersive experience “Sleep No More”. Expect nothing less for NYE. Described as a ‘kaleidoscope of decadence’,
  • Loreley Beer Garden (Lower East Side): Chill masquerade party with beer and bites. Bring your own mask and get a free beer or don’t and they’ll give you one at the door. Either way, complimentary champagne will be served as you watch the ball drop.
  • Somewhere Nowhere NYE 2023 (Flatiron): Rooftop with a view of the sky line for fireworks and open bar. Do we need to say more?

Now the game plan is set, say goodbye to 2022 and welcome a new year for experiences, hope, and friends.
