Thankful for NYC

New York City never sleeps which means endless adventures and things to do any day of the week or time. Thanksgiving is the holiday that kicks off the festive season adding more awesome to the city and reminds us to take a moment and slow down. When we do, New Yorkers have a lot to be thankful for.

Theaters

Broadway, off broadway, off-off broadway. There is no end to the list of shows to sweep us away in comedy, drama, mystery, or fantasy. Learn the history of the theater district at the newly opened Museum of Broadway and walk through the centuries of performances. And soon we will say goodbye to a staple performance on Broadway: The Phantom of the Opera (last performance Feb. 18, 2023).

Central to it All

To travel, to culture, to people. New York has been around since the inception of the United States. A melting pot of people which means different cultures and experiences along with community, charity, and support (not to mention midtown manhattan hotel(s) central to the city itself). A ‘quick’ plane ride to Europe, down south to warmth or jetset to the West coast. With 3 airports, it is not hard to go where you want to be.

The Subway

We love to hate it but live anywhere else and you’ll be missing what we have. An intricate system connecting 4 of the 5 boroughs allowing for expansion and accessibility to all parts of the city - if you want it! Who needs a car when you have the subway to avoid city traffic jams and being late. *Aside from the “occasional” train delay.

Food

There is a reason NYC seems to be the center of many food stories and television series. Can you believe there are over 26,000 restaurants? Under the radar hole in the walls, Michelin-Starred restaurants (Eleven Madison, Masa, Per Se), institutions worth hours waiting in line (Magnolia Bakery), the newest pop-ups, or food fairs. When it comes to food, this city is all about discovery and exposure for your palette of flavors you never thought to try.

Central Park

How has this much acreage survived without being overrun or cut back to give way to high rises? This park has an intricate history and stands to tell the tale. A major attraction for tourists and locals every day with museums, ponds, concerts, nature hikes. Step inside and forget you’re in the middle of a metropolis.

No rose colored glasses here, we know there are some downsides. But if a pro/con list was put together, we still think the pros would win and are thankful for this city.
