Congestion Pricing. Another nuisance to add to the list in 2025. May’s solution to raise the endorphins in a positive direction: biking. Perfect for National Bike Month. Ditch four wheels for two and get everywhere faster. NYC is fully equipped with CITI Bikes at all corners of the city and Fancy Apple is literally at your front door if you’re staying at Park Central Hotel. Now, the only question is where to explore?
Harlem
Head North to Harlem to explore the neighborhood. Cruise along the Harlem River Greenway for a low commitment, 2 miles, protected bike path. Catch a basketball tournament at Holcombe Rucker Park on 155th, known for its’ movie credits in Above the Rim and On Hallowed Ground before heading up to the greenway for views of the river and opportunities for detours through High Bridge Park to relax, play, or explore. Or let Harlem Heritage and Culture Central take the handlebars on their guided bike tour of Harlem. Supporting local, bike rentals are provided by Harlem Bike Shop or BYOB to learn about the neighborhood and the northern part of Central Park.
West Side/Hudson River
Get from tip to tail of Manhattan on the West Side. The Hudson River Greenway is 12.9 miles of car-free bike path. At the tip top is The Met Cloisters with a Garden Tour of Medieval botany. There’s multiple CITI Bike stations around Fort Tryon Park to rent a bike and start your ride along the Hudson. Be goal oriented and head straight through Washington Heights, Upper Manhattan, UWS, Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, West Village, Lower Manhattan and right to The Battery. Or self-guide your way through Hudson Yards, The Highline, Chelsea Market, Whitney Museum of American Art, 9/11 Memorial & Museum and finish with The Statue of Liberty at sunset.
Brooklyn Bridge Park/DUMBO
The paths aren’t as connected like the city, but still worth the ride to DUMBO. Head across the Brooklyn Bridge on the dedicated path to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Revitalized in 2010, the park provides 6 Piers of activities and bite size bike paths with plenty of shade and rest spots. Park the bike and explore DUMBO, as it can get congested with pedestrians. Don’t forget to get your pic for the ‘gram with the Manhattan Bridge in the background. You’ll know where the best spot is.
