A Classic New Year's Eve

Have a classic New Year’s Eve celebration this year. And no, that doesn’t mean boring. Every year, December 31st rolls around and it feels like we have to one-up last year to make sure we go out with a bang. Take a step the other direction and ring in 2024 with the traditions of the past.

Surround yourself with the ones you love. Bringing that new Hinge date to the party always adds a layer of unknown fun. But NYE is about surrounding yourself with family and friends to set the intention of the year to come. Gather those who influenced your past year with memories and those who you look forward to getting to know in the year ahead. And, if there’s a special someone to share a kiss, the perfect intimate NYE experience is just steps away from the Times Square ball drop at a hotel in midtown Manhattan. Have the party brought to you in the privacy of your own room with lite bites and champagne while you watch the Times Square festivities below.

Sure fireworks and champagne fountains are extravagantly amazing but sometimes all a party needs are the basics: tinsel, party hats, noise makers and libations. Transition your existing Christmas tree to a NYE tree. Aside from wanting to keep the holiday spirit alive as long as possible, there is lore for keeping your tree up until January 1. Taking it down symbolizes dragging your baggage and bad luck into the new year. Hard pass. Keep it up and decorate it with all the party favors for friends and family to grab throughout the night of celebration.

Resolutions. Insert eye roll here. Hear us out. Making resolution(s) is more than setting goals for the coming year (and forgetting we made them). It’s a reason to take a moment to reflect and see where the path of 2023 started and has led us. Don’t make it about trying to keep them but a celebration of the year in-review with your friends. And if so inclined to set an intention for 2024, make it about adding to your life and leave the ‘no’s’ out of it.

Internalize your good intentions, literally. Food is always the center of any celebration and NYE is no different. From different cultures to countries, everyone has a special food reserved for midnight. A few to nosh on:

  • Hoppin’ John Soup. Apparently, the black eyed peas like coins? representing wealth in the new year.
  • 12 grapes. 12 grapes to be eaten for each clock strike to bring luck.
  • Cabbage or Greens. Representing wealth and prosperity.
  • Champagne. It’s a drink of celebrations. Add some fun by jumping 3 times without spilling champagne (LOL) or placing a gold ring (lemon zest) in glass for wealth.
  • Noodles. Longevity, enough said.
  • Soft pretzels. For health, luck, and prosperity.

New Year’s Eve is all about the celebration, big or small, and the welcome of something new.
