Halloween is the New #1

Forget the winter holidays, Halloween is topping charts for best holiday. A favorite amongst Millennials with its perfect fall weather, color changing palette on trees, pumpkin spice and decorations to rival the Griswald’s (IYKYK) with 12ft lawn skeletons. Even the 13th landed on Friday adding to the eerie. But if haunted houses aren’t your thing, here are 4 reasons to still adorn a costume and participate in the best holiday of the year.

Dracula isn’t as scary as he appears in this musical, Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors. Follow the story of a meek real estate agent as he visits the house of Dracula exposing him to the wiles of life in Transylvania. Laughter, innuendo, and maybe a fit…of smiles. Check in-person at the box offices for day-of discounted tickets ($35). Theater is located a 10 min walk from Park Central Hotel in New York City.

Yearning for Halloween all year? Beetle House is your home away from home. It’s Halloween year round in this house with a Tim Burton themed outdoor space giving ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ vibes. Stay for just drinks or make a reservation for a meal. Don’t be surprised if you’re visited by a cast of characters like Beetlejuice, Wednesday or Jack.

Be in a cult or just feel like you are. Get initiated into the cult, err, bar at the pop-up Black Lagoon - dark and eerie with a soundtrack to match. Taking over Pretty Ricky’s in the LES, the Lagoon brings the Satanic Panic to life in 2023 with a drink menu to match. Drink your ‘Satanic Panic’ or the ‘Book of Blood’ while rocking out to Rob Zombie, System of the Down, Slipknot and more. Get in the “spirit” ahead of time with their curated playlists on Spotify.

Redeem your soul post Black Lagoon at a Candlelight Concert. Performances are hosted around the city at serene, picturesque locations inside churches and cathedrals. For October, the playlist is themed for spooky season with MJ’s Thriller, Stranger Things theme song, Psycho prelude, to name a few. Or choose from one of the other themed performances by candlelight of classical favorites or instrumental versions of songs for the Swifty fans.

Did we really need to give you reasons to put on a costume? Probably not, but a party always levels up the fun.
